The faculty of education has been thriving with a remarkable past under a privileged leadership of the eminent academicians.  We are trying in our own way to extend an excellent teaching-learning environment to all who join us as students and researchers.  This faculty has a dream a vision and a mission.  We hope to build up a situation in which students shall find enormous outlet to their creative innovative and imaginative talents.  Our Doctoral and Masters programmes are just the other name of quality in education.  The Department prepares students to be leaders in educational research, policy and practice.  Working alongside educators who are prominent scholars and practitioners, students develop the knowledge, skills, values and habits of mind needed to serve the education profession as researchers, teachers and principals.  The Department has an excellent placement record of students absorbed in well reputed educational institutions.

The Department has been a centre of excellence in education from its inception as is known to the academicians in and outside the State.  The effort and the commitment of the Department towards quality education can be gauged from the fact that our students are qualifying NET and SET.  The demand ratio of the programmes run by our Department is very high.  So many changes have taken place in the Department in the form of infrastructural facilitation.  What has not changed is our commitment to excellence and to relevance in all that we do.  Our commitment is to provide intellectually rich and supportive environment to the students in order to develop their talents.  Our mission is to help them to accept and respect themselves alike.  We see to it that our students cultivate positive attitude in their life, study and learn effectively in a healthy, co-operative and respectful environment under the guidance of responsible and caring team of faculty members.  Our concern is also to impart in students the social awareness and a sense of responsibility.  In order to produce would-be leaders of tomorrow,  the teachers prepare lesson plans regularly, hold small and large group discussions in the classes, use peer group learning situations and inspire students to take up relevant and need based research.
